X is going to let Grok curate your timeline

X is introducing Grok, its AI chatbot, to customize users' timelines. The feature, currently in early access for Premium subscribers on iOS, lets users pin specific topics to their homepage. Grok uses its AI to analyze every post and tailor the content users see based on their chosen interests, aiming for a more personalized timeline.

How Grok Curation Works

According to X product head Nikita Bier, Grok’s AI mixes topic selection with understanding user engagement to deliver highly individualized content. Android users can expect early access soon.

Shifting Away from X Communities

Alongside Grok’s rollout, X announced that its Communities feature will shut down on May 6 due to decreasing activity. Previously, X Communities let users connect through topic-specific feeds. X is advising users to shift from Communities to group chats within XChat for ongoing discussions.

Privacy and Safety Concerns

Grok’s image generation tool has drawn regulatory attention after incidents involving AI-generated inappropriate images. These issues have sparked lawsuits and heightened scrutiny of AI content controls on the platform.

As X adopts a more AI-driven and personalized approach, the platform stands apart from rivals like Threads and Mastodon, which still encourage community-based feeds.
