Tubi is the First Streamer to Launch a Native App within ChatGPT
Fox-owned streaming service Tubi has announced a major innovation: the launch of its native app within ChatGPT. This move marks Tubi as the first major streaming platform to directly embed a content discovery experience inside ChatGPT, giving users quick access to its massive selection of over 300,000 movies and TV episodes.
How Tubi’s ChatGPT App Works
Users can add the Tubi app through the ChatGPT app store and activate it simply by typing “@Tubi” in their prompts. From there, users can request recommendations in natural language, like asking for a “thriller for girls' night” or “something funny.” The app responds with curated suggestions pulled from Tubi’s library, each linking straight to the platform for easy viewing.
Staying Ahead in the Streaming Race
With intense competition among streaming platforms and an ever-growing library of content, discovery is more important than ever. Many services are experimenting with AI and features inspired by social media to keep viewers engaged. Tubi previously introduced "Rabbit AI," an in-app recommendation tool powered by ChatGPT, but shifted focus to meet users on widely adopted platforms like ChatGPT itself after discontinuing that tool.
Strategic Integration with ChatGPT
Leveraging ChatGPT’s reach—over 900 million weekly active users—Tubi aims to connect with a broader audience already comfortable using AI chatbots. This aligns with wider industry trends, as numerous companies have released specialized ChatGPT apps, including Booking.com, Canva, DoorDash, and Zillow.
Supporting New Content Creators
In addition to the ChatGPT integration, Tubi recently introduced the "Creatorverse Incubator," a program designed to help emerging creators develop original series for the platform, offering promotional support and funding opportunities.
