Google now lets you direct avatars through prompts in its Vids app
Google's Vids app just introduced new features that allow users to direct avatars with natural language prompts, customize scenes, and export videos directly to YouTube. These updates make video creation more intuitive and streamlined, integrating advanced AI video and music generation models.

Google now lets you direct avatars through prompts in its Vids app

Google has rolled out major updates to its Vids video editor app, including the ability to guide and personalize avatars simply by typing natural language instructions. With these prompts, users can now direct avatars to perform actions like engaging with products, props, or equipment, all while maintaining character consistency throughout a scene.

Enhanced Avatar Control and Customization

Vids' latest features let users fully customize their avatars by tweaking appearances, changing outfits, and designing new backgrounds, all using simple text prompts. This makes it easier for creators to match avatars to the style and theme of their videos without complicated tools.

Veo 3.1 and Advanced Video Generation

The update introduces Veo 3.1, an AI-powered model that generates eight-second video clips directly in the editor. All users get 10 free video generations per month, while Google AI Ultra and Workspace AI Ultra subscribers can create up to 1,000 clips monthly, greatly expanding creative possibilities.

Seamless YouTube Export and New Chrome Extension

Another valuable addition is the ability to export finished videos directly to YouTube, with all uploads initially set to private for review before publication. There's also a new Chrome extension that enables easy screen and audio recording, streamlining the editing process.

Continued Expansion of AI Tools

Recent Vids updates have brought in AI music generation with Lyria 3 and Lyria 3 Pro, a variety of 2D and 3D avatars, and support for additional voice-over languages, including French, German, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Japanese. These features are aimed at simplifying video creation for both enterprise and consumer users.

Competition in the Market

Google Vids is competing with other AI-driven video editing platforms such as Synthesia, HeyGen, D-ID, and Lemon Slice, as the demand for innovative and user-friendly video creation solutions continues to grow.
