AI chip startup Rebellions raises $400 million at $2.3B valuation in pre-IPO round
Rebellions Secures Major Investment Ahead of IPO
AI chip designer Rebellions, based in South Korea, has raised $400 million in a pre-IPO funding round, pushing its valuation to $2.34 billion. The investment round was led by Mirae Asset Financial Group and the Korea National Growth Fund, following a recent $250 million Series C.
Rapid Global Growth and Product Expansion
Founded in 2020, Rebellions specializes in designing AI chips tailored for inference—the computation that powers real-time responses in AI models. The company does not manufacture chips directly but instead outsources production while focusing on design and infrastructure development.
With this latest round, Rebellions’ total funding now stands at $850 million—$650 million acquired in the last six months. The startup is aggressively expanding, establishing new entities in the U.S., Japan, Saudi Arabia, and Taiwan, and aiming to build relationships with major cloud providers, government agencies, and telecom operators in these regions.
New Infrastructure Products: RebelRack and RebelPOD
Alongside the fundraising announcement, Rebellions introduced two new AI infrastructure solutions: RebelRack and RebelPOD. RebelPOD serves as a ready-to-deploy inference compute unit, while RebelRack connects multiple units into scalable clusters for large-scale AI deployments.
"AI is now measured by its ability to operate at scale, under power constraints, and with economic viability," said Rebellions CEO Sunghyun Park, emphasizing the company's focus on efficient inference infrastructure.
Challenging Established Chip Leaders
Rebellions is part of a new wave of semiconductor startups looking to disrupt the dominance of established industry leaders like Nvidia. As more tech giants develop their own chips, the competition in the AI hardware market continues to intensify.
